Nick & Yvonna's Seaside Romance | Seattle Aquarium Wedding

I love Asian weddings! I am so honored to have learned so many cultural traditions and wedding customs during my time living in Hawaii, where I can now bring that experience to couples here in Seattle. Nick & Yvonna’s Chinese tea ceremony was so special to be a part of. They offered tea to their elders in exchange for red envelopes containing bangles, rings, necklaces and money. After the tea ceremony was complete, Yvonna changed into her Western gown, and did a traditional “first-look” photo with Nick so he could see her in her white gown for the first time.

Nick & Yvonna chose the Seattle Aquarium for both their ceremony and reception locations as they loved being right on the water. Although an intimate gathering for them, they loved the interaction the venue offered their guests- from touch tanks to the daily otter feeding during cocktail hour, to the floor to ceiling aquarium focal point wall at the reception.

It was really fun to design the reception space for them bringing in tones of blues, purples, pinks & grays to accent the concrete floor of the venue, and the large blue water of the aquariums. The below collage photo is their inspiration board that we took all their design cues from.

The reception was complete with Chinese desserts (which are less sweet then American desserts), a fabulous shoe-game that got the crowd going, and a wonderful dance party. What a beautiful event to be a part of!
