Sarah & Edmund's Jewish Wedding at Camp Solomon Schechter

Weddings in locations that are meaningful to the Bride and Groom are some of my favorites to plan. Sarah and Edmund’s Jewish wedding certainly fit the bill. Sarah grew up in the Seattle area, and her family still lived here, but she and Edmund were living in Amsterdam. The couple knew that although they were thousands of miles away, Camp Solomon Schechter was going to be the location for their beautiful wedding day.

Sarah’s father help build this camp, and Sarah spend hours upon hours during summers swimming in the lake and playing with friends. This place held very special memories, and was the perfect backdrop to what Sarah and Edmund envisioned for their wedding day style. They wanted to make their wedding a weekend celebration with closest friends and family to enjoy the camp the way Sarah did when she was a child, all capped off with the grand finale of the wedding day itself.

Since we did 99% of the planning long-distance, I worked with them mostly via Skype and with Sarah’s parents who were located here in Seattle to make the details come to life. Trust was a huge part of their planning process, as they didn’t have the luxury of coming to food tastings or seeing the mockup of flowers in person. They truly gave over their trust, and walked into their magical wedding weekend.

I transformed the play field and bleachers of this camp into a magical wedding day experience for Sarah, Edmund, and their guests. I kept the ceremony fairly simple with a beautiful birchwood Chuppah and flowers, while the reception space was a little more elegant, but still fitting into the natural setting of the camp. I love using clear-topped tents for venues that are out in nature, as it still gives inclement weather protection, but also allows the view and setting to shine through. Are you a Jewish couple looking to incorporate Jewish wedding traditions into your day? We’d be happy to talk with you about how to make this a reality for you by setting up a quick complimentary phone call.

The party went all. Night. Long, as friends and family celebrated the most epic day of celebration for Sarah and Edmund. Guests could not believe that their cherished childhood camp transformed before their eyes into a magical wedding venue. Anything is possible with the right team.
