Three Entertainment Ideas to Share With Your Wedding Planner

As one of the most highly anticipated events of your wedding day, your post-ceremony reception is a celebration worth going all-out for. You’ll want to encourage your guests to let their hair down, but after enjoying a long day and a filling wedding dinner, a little help may be needed to get the energy in the room back up.

This is where your entertainment comes in – if you choose the right act, you’ll see all your loved ones having fun in no time. The perfect entertainment will need plenty of planning and preparation, so it’s best to get a helping hand from a professional. Here, we list three entertainment ideas you’ll want to share with your wedding planner.

Caricaturist or painter

Taking photos is fun, but for something truly original, have a caricaturist present on your wedding day to sketch your guests. Not only will these pictures make for wonderful souvenirs, but the act of your artist live drawing in front of your guests is sure to keep them entertained whether they’re the ones being drawn or not.

Caricatures can be comical due to their exaggerated style, but if you prefer something a little more subtle, consider hiring a painter for your reception instead. Many couples choose to have them present at their wedding ceremony, to paint that special moment they say “I do”. But, if you want to ensure all eyes are on you during your ceremony, your reception may be the perfect time to set up a painting station instead.

Karaoke

If you have particularly lively guests, a karaoke room will make for a great source of entertainment. Stick to the tried and tested way with a DJ controlling the line up, or take it one step further, and have professional musicians join in the fun as a backing band.

Incorporating karaoke into your reception will allow your guests to each enjoy a song that means something to them, without you having to plan ahead or incorporate song requests into your main reception playlist. Just sit back and enjoy the spectacle of all your loved ones having lots of outlandish fun on your big day.

Garden games

Perfect for a summer wedding, hosting garden games is a great way to enjoy the outdoor parts of your venue. There’s nothing quite like croquet, badminton, or even life-sized chess to keep your guests entertained on a sunny day.

Of course, you’ll want to make sure there’s something for all ages. If you’re having children at your wedding, consider hosting a three-legged race or a sack race, for endless fun and laughs.
