Top 5 Most Romantic Places to Get Engaged in Wa | Seattle Wedding Planner

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

As Valentine’s Day rapidly approaches, many dating couples find this day to be the most romantic day to ‘pop the question.’  I thought this would be a fitting time to showcase some of the most beautiful and romantic places in Washington to propose to the one you love.

My suggestions are purely based on my and my husbands experiences.  As newlyweds ourselves, we found many places during our dating and engagement that were beautiful, romantic, and meant something to us.  At the top of this post is a photo from our actual engagement at Stevens Pass, WA.  Yes, the ring didn’t fit and I wore it on my pinky finger for the first week until we could get it resized, but the engagement stuck and we’re happily married anyways.  :)

These top 5 are by no means the conclusive list in this subject.  I encourage you and your love to go out and create memorable, romantic places of your own.

Please enjoy, and maybe if you see fit, take advantage of one of these romantic locations to get engaged.

Leavenworth, WA-  Especially in the winter, this beautiful Bavarian town in the midst of the Cascade Mountains has so much to offer for lovers.  With its quaint village and snow covered trees, you can do everything from enjoying a night at a cozy B&B, to a sleigh ride complete with clydesdale horses at the helm.

Why not book a private sleigh ride to a picnic location?  Enjoy lunch together and surprise her with a ring in the picnic basket.

Salish Lodge and Spa-  Not only a beautiful place to have your wedding, but also a beautiful place to pop the question.  Among its cascading, thunderous, waterfall, Snoqualmie Falls has to offer a beautiful 5 star hotel and restaurant at the Salish Lodge and Spa.

Book a room overlooking the falls and propose to her in front of the fireplace in your room.  The next day, enjoy a couples massage in their spa.  You will get a ‘yes’ for sure!

Chateau Ste Michelle Winery in Woodinville, WA-  Enjoy a private wine tasting at Chateau Ste Michelle or one of the other lovely wineries Woodinville has to offer.  This is Western Washington’s wine country.  Enjoy touring the wineries, or just opt to visit one, then enjoy a romantic dinner while sipping on local offerings of the wine you just tasted, which is abundant at many of the local restaurants around the wineries.

Friday Harbor/Roache Harbor, WA-  These beautiful seaside towns can offer a day of romance as you board the ferry to either Friday Harbor or Roache Harbor.  Make a day of going whale watching, and stay at a local B&B to take advantage of all this cute town has to offer.

Home Sweet Home-  Surprise her with rose petals from the front door to the dinning room table.  Invite her over for a home-cooked dinner (or have it catered if cookings not your style, or strength).  Over a romantic dinner, a roaring fire, share your love with her and ask her to share all of her future with you.

Above all, when proposing, be yourself.  Be true to what you have built as a couple and what suits your personalities.  You will be nervous, so be sure you eat something before you plan on popping the question to settle your stomach a little.  Wether the ring has been chosen by just you, or as a couple, be sure you put it on her finger for her.  In case you don’t know, it goes on the ‘ring finger’ on her left hand.  And lastly, it’s always a good idea to be a bit traditional, and get down on one knee.

May you have a wonderful Valentines Day, and happy proposing!!
