I hope you can’t tell how nervous I was in these photos!! :) About a year ago, I was contacted by the regional director of Wedding Network USA, BreeAnn Gale, asking if I would be interested in being a speaker for an upcoming educational meeting. For those of you who don’t know what WNUSA is, it’s a nation-wide network of wedding professionals. Each state has a local chapter, and each chapter hosts either an educational or networking event every month for wedding vendors.
As the only Seattle area wedding planner who specializes in planning Filipino, Japanese, Chinese, Hawaiian and Samoan weddings; BreeAnn reached out to me to host one of these educational meetings on the traditions and customs of Filipino, Chinese and Japanese weddings. I was thrilled to be asked to share my expertise in Asian-Pacific wedding cultures, yet super nervous because I had never done anything like this before.
I could not have asked for a better event! The guests left feeling more informed about Asian wedding customs, and I left feeling like I had absolutely done my best- it was fun, interactive and educational- everything I wanted it to be. Of course I could not have done it without a collaboration of fellow wedding vendors who helped make this event amazing!
Many thanks to all the absolute wedding pro’s who helped me pull this off:

Meet Mitko and Felice! This couple came to me through the referral of Alante Photography. When I first met with them, they didn’t have their florist, officiant or hair/makeup artist booked yet- and it was only 2 months till their wedding! They needed my help!
This amazingly beautiful couple booked me for my day-of coordination package. I immediately took to them as they were so friendly, and truly wanted their wedding to be a reflection of Felice’s Filipino heritage, and Mitko’s Italian heritage. It was obvious that family was extremely important to them as they had a packed wedding ceremony and reception at Seattle’s very well-known landmark, the Colombia Tower Club, and their reception at the equally impressive Arctic Club Hotel.
They opted not to have the traditional Catholic Filipino wedding ceremony, and instead went with a more traditional Western ceremony. The processional was beautiful with music played by Shaun Paul from ‘The Phantom of the Opera.’ The scene was stolen with the ring bearers- one not quite old enough to walk down the aisle, so he was pulled down the aisle by the slightly older ring bearer in a Red Flyer wagon.
Felice looked beautiful as she and her brother walked down the aisle in a beautiful wedding gown, and her very ornate veil. Mitko’s face was glowing as he saw his bride come toward him. Surrounded by family and friends, Mitko and Felice became husband and wife.
The beautiful wedding ceremony carried into a very beautiful wedding reception. If you have never seen the Arctic Club’s Dome Room, you are missing out! This is a stunning location for a wedding reception. The night carried on with special performances and an amazingly choreographed first dance.
As the reception got under way, we of course could not start a Filipino wedding without the money dance! Felice then changed into a STUNNING beaded gown for the rest of the reception as the guests and the new husband and wife danced the night away.
Thank you Mitko and Felice for letting me be a part of this truly beautiful day!
