Tacoma Wedding Expo | Seattle Wedding Planner | Mary Kay Booth

Written on January 6, 2011

Next weekend, January 15th and 16th when you attend the Tacoma Wedding Expo, be sure to visit a very special woman.  I not only have the privilege of planning this woman’s wedding, but to call her my friend.

Let me introduce you to Christy Moe.  This woman is extraordinary.  When I first met Christy, never in a million years would I have guessed that she had been a breast cancer survivor.  She was vibrant, beautiful and confident.  She has poured her heart and soul into helping other women going through this awful disease to feel as she now does.

Christy has recently become a member of the Mary Kay team, one of the nations foremost companies that supports research to find cures for women’s cancers.  It is this booth that you need to stop by and meet Christy.

This amazing woman has decided to pay it forward to other women who are feeling ugly, bald, and sick.  As your Mary Kay consultant, a portion of everyone of her sales will go towards creating a care package for a woman going through treatment.  An example basket might include such items as a warm blanket, a book of inspirational messages, lotion, and a teddy bear.  These items say ‘you are not alone.’  They offer a virtual hug, support, soothing words, and comfort.  As Christy knows from experience, ‘love is a powerful thing.’

We all want a world without cancer.  Until then, let’s help HER and YOU feel special and beautiful.  Not only will you look stunning, you can feel good knowing your Mary Kay purchase is going to make someone else’s day a little brighter too.  Sometimes the smallest gifts make all the difference in the world.

Seattle Wedding Show | Seattle Wedding Planner | Seattle Wedding Show Tips & Advice | Washington State Convention Center

Written on January 5, 2011

Brides to be- here it is!  The Seattle Wedding Show is back!  This is an amazing opportunity to scout out your vendors that you may want to work with.  This Seattle Wedding Show is an institution here in Seattle showcasing all the latest wedding trends, wedding vendors, and wedding fashion.

While New Creations will not be hosting a booth this year, you can be sure that I will be there supporting all my fellow wedding vendors and meeting some new ones.  It is always a great place to get inspiration and network with fellow wedding professionals.

Some words of advice having been a past bride who has experienced what can be a very overwhelming experience.

1.  First and foremost- wear comfortable shoes!! Cannot stress enough how important this is.  As you walk up and down the aisles of the Seattle Convention Center, if your feet hurt, you will not be focused, and may even become grumpy.  So do yourself and your fellow participants a favor, and wear comfy shoes!  :)

2.  You will be overwhelmed.  Have a game plan of searching out the vendors you are specifically looking for.  You will have thousands of wedding vendors shoving their flyers in your face hoping to catch the eye of a perspective bride.  Take your time!  Politely decline to take the flyers of the vendors you are not looking for, and only take the handouts of those vendors you are looking for- who you have talked with. This will pay off big time after you get home to help distinguish who you may want to follow up with, because you will have remembered talking with them.

3.  Bring return address envelope labels with you.  Remember all those free mailers that get sent to you?  Well sometimes they come in handy.  Pull out those return address labels with the picture of the cute puppy or the kids crayon drawing on them, and put them to use!  This will save your hand and your time.  You will be asked countless times for your name, address, email address and phone number.  Having pre-printed labels with this information already printed on it will be invaluable.

Well, there it is folks.  Tips to surviving the gauntlet of what is the Seattle Wedding Show.  It is this coming weekend, January 8th & 9th, at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center.  $2.00 off tickets are offered at all exhibitor locations.  For complete wedding vendor information, Seattle Wedding Show information and all the details, check out their website.  I’ve linked it on this post.

Be watching for New Creations Weddings special wedding show discount coming in a post later this week!!  Anyone who got engaged over the holidays won’t want to miss this!

Paul and Vanessa | Salish Lodge and Spa | Seattle Wedding Planner

Written on December 13, 2010

Snoqualmie Falls is easily considered one of the most beautiful wedding locations in Washington state.  This past October, I was honored to be the day-of coordinator for Vanessa and Paul’s wedding held at The Salish Lodge & Spa.

This was a bit of a non-conventional booking for me. Seeing as how I had never met the couple until two months before the wedding.  Vanessa’s mom, Carole, had actually been the first person who contacted me.  I met with her as Vanessa travels a lot for her work, and was unable to meet up with us to discuss the plans.

Carole and I hit it off, and shortly thereafter, it was time for our 2-month prior check-in.  I finally got to meet the couple!

This couple and their family are absolutely amazing!  From the first moment when we had our first consultation, I was immediately taken in as part of the family by Vanessa’s mom and dad.  We had a wonderful conversation over pizza at one of their favorite local pizza shops in Renton to discuss wedding details.

Finally the day arrived for their vows to be exchanged.  Under a beautiful draped canopy overlooking the falls, Vanessa and Paul became husband and wife.  The ceremony was dotted with personal touches of the couples relationship and those that have passed on.

The groomsmen both had non-traditional roles as they entered down the aisle.  One groomsmen carried a lighter to light the aisle candles as he walked down to a canopy of beautiful willow branches created by Anne of Floresscense.  The other carried a box of butterflies which were later released in remembrance of passed grandparents.

As the evening went on, there were many laughs provided by this very comedic family.  The brides sister and father could seriously be stand up comedians, I’m not kidding!  We were rolling as the toasts were being given, followed by tears when Vanessa’s dad started tearing up about his baby daughter.

The dancing got underway, and I got the privilege of dancing with Vanessa’s 90-something year-old grandpa.  What a great location, and an amazing couple!  Wish you all the best!

Peter and Mel | Delille Cellars Woodinville | Seattle Wedding Planner

Written on December 12, 2010

I figured I should start getting some weddings up here on the blog.  You know how life seems to get busier and busier the closer to the holidays it gets?  Well mine is no exception, so I apologize for the delay in keeping current on my blogs.

I have had the privilege to work with so many amazing couples and I wanted to feature them here.  Peter and Melissa were not my first booking after my move back home to Seattle, however, they were the first wedding on the calendar.

Peter and Melissa found me through the referral of Alante Photography, and it was not long after that I came to adore this amazing fiery woman, Melissa and her wonderful fiance (now husband), Peter.  They had most of the planning done already, so they decided to hire me for my day-of coordination package.

On a lovely June day, Peter and Melissa exchanged their wedding vows at Delille Cellars in Woodinville, WA.  What a gorgeous venue!  Perfectly manicured lawns, beautiful ponds and waterfalls abound on this property.

The day was not without its glitches as we soon realized that no one picked up the liquor license!  Leaving my assistant Kari behind, I sped into downtown Woodinville to pick one up.  Thank goodness for GPS’s (and amazing assistants)!!!

The second glitch happened when the ceremony got underway and the best man slid out of line to tell Loren (the photographer), that he had forgotten the rings!

After probably the fastest sprint I have ever done in my life, I managed to find the rings in a pile of makeup, clothing, and champagne glasses in the ladies bridal suite.

Running back down to the ceremony, a quick hand-off to Kari, and her strolling back up to the best man as if nothing was the matter; we managed to have the guests be none the wiser to the chaos that just had happened.  The ceremony completed and Peter and Mel were now husband and wife.

The party got underway  for the evening with Mel sporting her fabulous red shoes, some awesome reception games, and ended with a bouquet and garter toss off the balcony!

Thank you Peter and Mel for letting me be a part of your amazing day!!

Christy and Darrin Engagement Session | Solace Arts Photography | Seattle Wedding Planner

Written on November 30, 2010

Christy and Darrin were the first couple to hire me for my full-coordination services after I moved back to Seattle.  Christy and I chatted for over an hour on our first phone call!!  I really don’t want this couples’ wedding day to come as I will tremendously miss working with them!  This is a couple that I know I will probably become lifelong friends.

One of the highlights along their engagement road was a recent trip down to Cannon Beach with their wedding photographer Emily of Solace Arts Photography. This is where Darrin proposed to Christy and the rest is history.

This couple is so in love and it is highlighted so clearly in their photos.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Day at the beach with Alante Photography- Seattle Wedding Photographer

Written on September 20, 2010

I wanted to share with you a recent photo session I had with Loren and Kim of Alante Photography.  This past summer, they offered to take some photos of me and my Golden Retriever, Basil.

On a sunny day we headed down to Richmond Beach which is near Edmonds.  We had a ton of fun letting Basil run around, and getting some great shots of us.

I spent most of the time laughing at the ‘behind the scenes’ stuff that was going on.  Kim (who is one of the thinnest women I know) was fighting the wind down at the beach while hanging on to a HUGE light diffuser, while Loren was asking her to hold it still.  Poor thing might as well have been holding onto a giant kite!

I love working with Loren and Kim!  My husband and I had hired them for our wedding this past May 2010 at Blue Ribbon Cooking & Culinary Center.  My husband takes notoriously bad pictures, but Alante did a great job of capturing the real Brian.  They put you at ease and you can rest assure that for your wedding, they will capture the images you will cherish for the rest of your lives.

I decided to use one of their images on my about page link on my website.  I love this picture of Basil and me!  My dog has been with me through thick and thin for the past 10 years, and I truly have to say he is second only to my husband for my love and affection. :)   I am so excited to share the rest of these images with you from that day’s photo shoot.

Thanks Alante Photography for sharing your talents with me!  I love them!  If you’re looking for a Seattle wedding photographer, Alante Photography will not disappoint!

Alante is one of New Creations preferred vendors.  When you work with New Creations for your wedding planning, and decide to book Alante as your wedding photographer, you will receive their preferred package pricing!!!

Welcome to the new website!

Written on September 14, 2010

New Creations welcomes you to my amazing new website!
You are one of the first to get a glimpse into my heart and passion, showcased through this amazing website!  I am so privileged to have worked with Kolby Allen who helped make my thoughts, sketches and vision for this website into a reality.  Kolby is the husband of Emily Allen of Solace Arts Photography with whom I have worked closely with on so many projects. Their work is featured on some of the photos on this site.
The process of making New Creations Wedding Design & Coordination website was a fun and exciting project.  I have created one of the only Seattle area wedding planning websites that allows couples to have an interactive login page featuring a wedding day countdown, access to preferred vendor information, a calendar of upcoming vendor appointments and electronic document storage. New Creations is constantly listening to what couples want, keeping up to date with todays busy brides and grooms.
I invite you to take a look around and enjoy the beauty and elegance of New Creations Wedding Design & Coordination.  I look forward to working with many of you soon!
Thank you, and enjoy!
Rebecca
